Apple Or Pear Sauce
4 md Apples or pears -- peeled, cored and cut in 1-inch chunks (8 Cups)
1/2 c Apple juice
2 tb Fresh lemon juice -- (optional)
1 tb Honey
1/4 ts Ground cinnamon
1/4 c White wine -- (optional)
Bring fruit and apple juice to a boil in a medium-size saucepan. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, 20 to 25 minutes until fruit is very soft.
Add lemon juice, honey and cinnamon. Puree fruit mixture in a blender or food processor until smooth.
If using wine, return sauce to saucepan and add wine. Simmer for 3 to 5 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
