Fresh Pears in Wine 6 sm Fresh pears
1 c Sauterne wine
1 c Sugar
1/2 c Water
1 ts Crystallized ginger Minced
2 tb Lemon juice
Peel pears, leaving fruit whole with stems intact. Place upright in
slow-cooking pot. Combine wine with sugar, water, ginger, and lemon
juice. Pour over pears. Cover and cook on low 4 to 6 hours or until
pears are tender. Chill and serve plain, with sour cream or whipped
cream cheese.
