Brandied Dates

2 qts. water
Sugar, as needed
Dates, enough for 6 pts.
Rum, as desired
Brandy, as desired

To water, add enough sugar to make a medium heavy syrup. Boil until desired consistency. Add rum and brandy to desired strength and keep warm. Pack dates in clean, sterilized pint jars and pour syrup mixture over dates to cover. Seal and let cure for 1 week or more - use to your discretion.
