Date and Nut Chews
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. dark corn syrup
1 c. finely chopped dates
1 c. chopped nuts
3/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. powdered sugar
Place eggs in a large bowl, add almond extract and beat until light. Gradually beat in sugar and syrup. Add dates and nuts and mix well. Fold in sifted flour. Pour into greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake in 375 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from oven and while still hot, cut into 1 1/2 inch squares. Shape at once into small balls and roll in powdered sugar.
